From an idea to a brand new product
All of our efforts aiming towards relevant innovation are
gathered in one location: Our R&D division. Here, input from
the entire organisation is formalised and organised into projects.
Input may consist of ideas, product concepts or an area with
significant business potential. Whereas Sales & Marketing has a
responsibility to collect relevant market and customer knowledge,
R&D's tasks consist of converting this input into ideas and
concepts for new products. This is accomplished by defining
performance criteria, designing potential solutions, building
prototypes and testing and documenting the results.
This is not easy. You cannot just ask customers and get the right
answer. You must combine a number of hypotheses into a synthesis
that unifies conflicting requirements, such as low price and high
performance or simple construction and advanced brake control
systems. But, as shown by our history, we have succeeded in this
endeavour.
