The old electromagnetic brakes in this automatic gravel pit grab crane could no longer hold the loads required. So they were replaced by a new industrial hydraulic brake system from Svendborg Brakes on the main and closing hoists. Due to the high amount of cycles and lifetime expectancy the relatively small brakes have double extended spring packs.
The boom hoist on this J80 tower luffing crane is equipped with a BSFI 330 MS as parking and emergency brake. The compactness and reliability of both brake and hydraulic unit, together with the short release time of 0.1 sec., backed up by the record delivery time of less than two weeks, made Svendborg Brakes the preferred provider of the new braking solution.
